Hector Zaragoza Tejas

Software Engineer
Hector is a software engineer with a background in nonprofits and public policy. He is motivated to support the development of equitable and healthy communities. He holds degrees in International Development and Public Policy. ->

From environmental conservation to social services, Hector's focus has been on helping marginalized communities connect with the resources everyone needs to prosper.

Hector has dedicated his 13 years of professional experience to serving communities in need in various sectors. His past client-facing experience, in a nonprofit serving new immigrant communities, and at a county public benefits office, gave him the privilege to have an immediate impact on people's lives. And now, at AidKit, he now has the opportunity to take this to scale every single day.

Hector has a BA in International Development Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and a MA in Public Policy from the University of California, San Diego.

Having seen great opportunity for technological improvements in the social sector, he pivoted to software development given its ability to solve problems at scale. So, he first learned the basics on his own and then launched into 6 months of software development bootcamps before landing at AidKit.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

You can find Hector on a hike, a bike ride, or any adrenaline-pumping activity he can find. (But remember, safety first kids!)

Recently, he had the opportunity to do a 78-mile bike ride with a 6,400ft elevation gain in the Colorado Rockies with his dear colleague and friend Andy Marshall. He also enjoys a good book and going to watch independent movies.‍
