How to control and delete cookies

Introduction

This policy applies to all AidKit websites (the “Site”) and services that link to it. It explains how we use cookies, pixels, SDKs, tags, and similar technologies (collectively “cookies”) and how you can control them.

We follow a consent-first approach for non-essential cookies (such as those for analytics or marketing). We don’t use them unless you choose to allow them. This approach is designed to comply with applicable privacy laws.

Policy

AidKit believes in transparency about collection and use of data. This Policy provides information about how and when AidKit uses cookies. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small unique data files placed on your device by your browser.  They help us remember your preferences to tailor your experience, keep things running smoothly and understand how you interact with our content. Some cookies last only while your browser is open (session cookies). Others may stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them (persistent cookies).

We also use similar technologies like:

  • Pixels: tiny pieces of code that register when a page or email is opened.
  • SDKs (software development kits): bits of code used in apps and web tools to add features like analytics.
  • Tags: snippets of code that help us load and manage other tools.

Together, we call these “cookies” for simplicity.

Does AidKit use cookies?

Yes. AidKit uses a mix of first-party and third-party cookies. Some are essential for our Site to work. Others (like analytics or marketing tools) are optional and only load if you say yes. Some cookies last only while your browser is open (session cookies). Others may stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them (persistent cookies).

How AidKit uses cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Run the Site (logging in, keeping sessions secure, storing your preferences).
  • Measure performance (see which pages are useful, improve content).
  • Personalize and optimize your Site experience.
  • Support marketing (ads, and—if you allow it—contact-level identification so we know which organizations are engaging with our content).

Certain cookies also make your interactions faster and more secure.

Categories of cookies we use

  • Strictly Necessary cookies (always on) to keep the Site secure and running.
  • Marketing & Identity Tracking (optional) for ads/personalization and, if you allow it, contact-level identification by approved providers.
  • Personalization cookies (optional) to remember your preferences to make your experience smoother and more tailored.‍
  • Analytics (optional) to help us understand Site usage and performance.

Vendors we use

We work with trusted providers who help us run our website, communications, and services. Here’s who they are and what they do:

Marketing & Identity Tracking

  • Vector — matches visits to known business profiles for contact-level identification.
  • LinkedIn — helps us run advertising and remarketing campaigns.
  • HubSpot — provides marketing automation, email campaigns, and lead tracking.

Analytics

  • Google Analytics — measures how people use our Site so we can improve performance.
  • Google Search Console — tracks how our Site appears in search results (does not set visitor cookies).

Personalization & Optimization

  • Weblow Analyze — analyzes website traffic and aggregated user engagement data (such as page views, clicks, scrolls, and navigation patterns) to help us understand how our website is used, how it performs and to optimize user experience.

Tag Management

  • Google Tag Manager — helps us manage and deploy other analytics and internal    marketing tags if you accept in Cookie Preferences. We do not forward TAGs or your browsing data to other websites.

Hosting & Infrastructure

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts our services and keeps them running securely.

Address Validation

  • Smarty — verifies mailing addresses for accuracy.

Communication

  • Twilio — powers secure communications (such as messaging).

Payments

  • Dwolla — payment processing.
  • USIO — payment services.
  • GiveCard — prepaid debit card services.

We update this list as our tools change. For details about the cookies and technologies these vendors use (including duration and data collected), see the Appendix A: Cookie & Similar Technologies.

How are cookies used for advertising purposes?

Some cookies and pixels help us show ads to people who might be interested in AidKit and measure whether those ads work. In certain U.S. states, this may be considered a “share” of personal information for targeted advertising. You may opt out anytime via Cookie Preferences,  or by sending a recognized opt-out signal like Global Privacy Control (GPC) from your browser.

What can you do if you don't want cookies to be set or want them to be removed?

You’re in control:

  • Manage choices anytime, including turning off Marketing and identity tracking, in Cookie Preferences (link also in footer).
  • Adjust settings in your browser to block or delete cookies.
  • If you turn off non-essential cookies, the core Site still works; analytics and personalization may be limited.

Please note, blocking categories may impact your experience on our Site.

Does AidKit respond to Do Not Track signals?

Our Site does not respond to older Do Not Track (DNT) browser settings. DNT is a browser setting that requests websites not to track your browsing activity. However, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law, which provide a more standardized way to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Regional compliance

  • If applicable, international users may have additional rights described in our Privacy Policy.
  • US: Opt out rights under CPRA/CPA; GPC honored

Updates

We may update this Cookies Policy as our practices or laws change. The “Effective date” at the top shows the latest version.

Appendix A: Cookie and similar technologies

These tables list the cookies and similar tools (pixels, SDKs, tags) we use, grouped by category. For each, we explain the purpose in plain language, give examples of the data collected, note how long cookies usually last, and link to the vendor’s policy for more detail.

Strictly Necessary Cookies (always on)

These are the cookies that keep our Site running. They handle things like logging you in, keeping your session secure, and remembering your cookie settings. You can block them in your browser, but if you do, parts of the Site may not work as expected. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies you.

Vendor / Service Example Cookies Purpose Data Types Retention Policy
*.aidkit.org, *.aidkit.com session, language, cookie consent Remember consent choices, keep you logged in, maintain Site security Consent state, session ID, preferred language Session or up to 12 months (configurable) Cookies Policy, Data Retention and Destruction Policy

Analytics cookies (optional)

We use analytics cookies to understand how people use our Site—what pages are popular, how people move around, and where we can improve. This helps us make the Site more useful and reliable. If you turn these off, we won’t be able to see how our Site is performing, but the Site will still function.

Google Analytics 4 _ga, _gid, _ga_* Track visits, pageviews, and events to measure site performance Page views, referrer URLs, device/browser info, IP (often truncated/anonymized) _ga: up to 24 months; _gid: 24 hours (configurable) Google Analytics Help
Google Search Console — Measure how AidKit appears in search results N/A (reports based on Google systems, not visitor browsers) N/A Google Search Console

Marketing & Identity Tracking (optional)

These tools help us make our outreach more relevant. With your consent, they may link your Site activity to a known business profile (like your name, organization, or role) or use it for ads and personalization. If you turn them off, you’ll still see AidKit content — just less tailored.

Vendor / Service Example Cookies Purpose Data Types Retention Policy
Webflow Analyze varies Website experimentation, optimization, and personalization to improve user experience Page interactions, device/browser information, optimization signals Typically 3–12 months (configurable) Webflow Privacy Policy

Third-party website cookies

Sometimes you may be directed to other websites (for example, to apply for a role, surveys, make a payment, or view content hosted on those sites such as a news article or an embedded video). Those sites may set their own cookies. We don’t control those and recommend checking their cookie notices.

How to control and delete cookies

You’re in charge of your cookie choices:

  • You can change choices anytime in Cookie Preferences.
  • Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies  (see Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge help pages).
  • Non-essential tools stay off unless you turn them on.
  • If you clear cookies or use another browser, data collected before you changed your settings may still be used, but we’ll stop collecting new data from any disabled cookies.
